Reed Diffusers

What are reed diffusers and how do they work?

Reed diffusers are the hottest trend right now in home fragrancing! Rattan reeds are inserted into a glass bottle or glass jar of fragranced diffuser oil.

Each rattan reed contains channels that run the entire length of the reed. These channels wick the oil to the top of the reeds. The fragrance is then naturally dispersed into the air through evaporation- leaving your surrounding areas smelling wonderful!

Reed diffusers are flame free and do not require any heat. They disperse fragrance into the air naturally.

Are your reeds bamboo or rattan?

The reeds are premium quality RATTAN reeds. Reeds are not bamboo but they look somewhat similar to bamboo skewers. Those can never be used for fragrancing as they block fragrance from travelling up.

Can I reuse my reeds?

No. Once reeds have been used for a certain fragrance, you cannot use them for another fragrance. The fragrance that is already absorbed into your reeds will mix with the new fragrance which will lead to production of undesirable fragrance combinations.

You should use new reeds when you start using new fragrance or if the reeds have become completely saturated with the fragrance, or if they become clogged with dust. After prolonged use and complete saturation of the reeds, the channels usually become clogged. Thus, we replace with new reeds again to make the home smell fresh again!

How long do reed diffusers last?

Generally our 200 ml diffusers last for approximate 2.5 months if conditions are favourable i.e. the diffuser is kept in cool and dry area, reeds are flipped every 3 days. However, the product can last for a shorter span if they are exposed to heat, open areas, or if reeds are flipped very frequently or other factors like humidity, air conditioning, heating, closed doors, open doors, dehumidifiers, etc.

Can I dilute the oil with water?

No. Our diffuser oils are ready to use. Thus, there is no need to mix them or dilute them with anything. Any dilution will ensure that the product will become unworkable as oil and water do not mix.

How often should I flip my reeds?

Whenever you notice the fragrance fading a bit or want an extra burst of fragrance. Ideally reeds should be flipped every 3 days.

How often should I replace the reeds?

Replace the reeds ideally every 3 months or after they permanently stop diffusing. Over time, reeds can become clogged with dust. Thus, it is good to change reeds to ensure that your product keeps working effectively.

What should I do if the fragrance stops diffusing?

Flip the reeds over in the bottle exposing the "wet" ends to the air. If the reeds have permanently stopped diffusing (due to clogging with dust or any other reason) then replace them with new reeds.

How many reeds should I put in a bottle?

All the ten reeds put together ensure 100% effectiveness of the product in the surrounding area.

What are the safety recommendations for reed diffusers?

Do not ingest oils. Use caution when filling your bottles with oil or flipping your reeds as oils can damage some surfaces. Do not light reeds. Be careful not to tip over the diffuser. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Are any of your bases or fragrances tested on animals?

No. None of our products are tested on animals.

Can I color my reed diffuser oil?

No adding color shall slow the diffusion process or clog the reeds.

Can I cut my reeds to make them a little shorter?

No because cutting will crimp the ends of the reeds which can effect the diffusion process.

Where should I position my new reed diffuser?

Positioning your reed diffuser near a source of airflow, such as a vent or a window, will help the fragrance spread faster throughout the room. The downside is that this will also decrease the life span of your reed diffuser as oil dissipates at a faster rate. Try placing your reed diffuser away from air conditioning or vents first and see if the fragrance is sufficient as per your personal preference.

My reed diffuser doesn’t smell as strongly as it used to even though there’s still plenty of oil in the bottle. What can I do?

Try flipping the reeds whenever you’d like a stronger fragrance. This simple repositioning will help to kick-start the diffusion process. Don’t flip too often, however – the more often you flip your reeds the faster the oil will dissipate. Also- giving the bottle a gentle “swish” or two can help to blend the ingredients of the oil and strengthen the fragrance.

Sometimes if the reeds are completely saturated with oil and over time, they can become clogged. If you still have oil in the bottle and flipping the reeds doesn’t seem to help, consider replacing your reeds.

Candles

How can I keep my candles looking their best?

Keep your candles stored in a cool, dry place for them to look their best if not being used immediately. Candles will discolor or fade when they are exposed to intense light for extended periods.

Why do candle wicks sometimes become mushroom shaped?

This usually occurs when the wick needs to be trimmed. Extinguish the flame, and use wick trimmer to trim the wick to 3mm and relight.

Do you have a candle that "eats" smoke or cooking odours?

No, all candles will mask smoke or cooking odours.

Can I refill my jar candle when it is empty? Do you recycle the empty jars?

Glass weakens as it’s used, so we do not recommend refilling any of our candles for re-use as a candle. They do make great holders, for all kinds of things around the home. We currently do not recycle but you can always ask your local civic authorities for recycling of such products.

How do I remove candle wax from fabric?

Please consult laundry instructions provided by manufacturer of fabric or drycleaners.

Why does it say to discontinue using the candle when 1cm of wax remains?

This is because the glass can get hotter as the flame nears the bottom and is to prevent any heat damage. We also recommend to using a heat resistant surface such as a candle tray to prevent any damage to your surfaces.

Scented Home Fragrance Oil

How do I store the oil?

You should never leave oils in a place where the sun will shine directly on them - like on a window shelf in the bathroom, for example. Over a period of months this will dramatically speed up the process of oxidation (deterioration) due to them continually heating up and cooling down. Please Choose a cool, dark place to keep them safely away from heat and also inquisitive children - safety point number one.

What are the various uses of the scented oils?

They can be used to refresh potpourri, for burning in oil burners or even in aroma diffusers.

Can I use the oils on my skin?

No. our oils are not for personal use.
